Home again, home again, jiggety jog.
Guess where we went today.
Hint: it’s a place where boys plunder pies, dogs go hungry and mothers beat their children because there’s not enough food.
Yep! We visited fairytale land in the shape of our local small-town museum. Every month, the wonderful volunteers decorate the room for various themes. There are activities to do, a chalkboard, books, and a play fort. This month is nursery rhymes, actually. But I hear they’ve been annexed into fairytale land.
We met up with a fellow homeschooling family that recently moved to the area. Their girls were close to Laura’s age, and no one minded Max running around crazy. We hung out for 2 hours and everyone colored, played in the fort, and took turns on the old carousel horse (from the town’s former carousel). Oh, and there was plenty of dressing up in the typical Idaho play clothes as well. Hey, we’re pioneer stock around here! Well, not us. But everyone else around this little town.
The best thing about going to the kid’s room is taking a day off official schoolwork but still counting it for homeschool. Yes, we homeschool. Actually, in all honestly, we’ve just barely dived into the pool and are still hoping we can swim. We’re mostly focusing on learning to read and math with a dose of history every now and then. But, this is all for another post.
Here’s some pictures from our fun afternoon:
